RE:                  2009 NJFC Grassroots Campaign

The New Jersey Food Council has decided to embark on a vigorous public affairs grassroots advocacy and media relations effort to highlight our industry’s issues during this election cycle and beyond.  To that end, we have agreed to retain the services of Trenton-based public affairs firm Government Process Solutions (GPS) to supplement our government affairs efforts.  Many of you may be familiar with GPS Managing Principal Michael Turner.  Michael managed the media relations for the Food Council in 2002 on the Corporate Business Tax issue and we were pleased with the substantial and positive coverage Michael secured for us at that time.

In addition, GPS will be working in concert with BIPAC (introduction courtesy of Campbell’s Soup) a Washington DC-based internet grassroots communications service.  By virtue of BIPAC’s endowment from leading Fortune 500 companies, its services will be provided at no cost to the Food Council.

With this formal introduction of Mike’s services, he will be contacting members to discuss their grassroots programs and working with us on a “Get Out the Vote” campaign as we get this project underway.  We hope you will embrace this effort and work with us for a stronger voice of the food industry in Trenton.

Under the leadership of NJFC Chairman of the Board Jim McCaffrey, the Executive Committee is pleased to endorse this new endeavor and look forward to working with members to advance the agenda and issues of the food industry in New Jersey.  Please call me with any questions.
