The beef base product contains milk and soy, which are known allergens. Jars of the beef base product may be mislabeled as chicken base, which does not declare these allergens on the label.

The following products are subject to recall:

. Cases of 16-ounce jars of "US LOW SODIUM BEEF BASE PASTE NO MSG ADDED*." Each case bears the product codes "191806" and "30381E" and the lot code "72108122481," as well as the establishment number "EST. 2016" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The beef and chicken base products were produced on April 12, 2007, and were shipped to distribution warehouses in California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, New Jersey, North Dakota, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. These products were intended for food service and restaurant use and are not expected to be available for purchase in retail establishments.

The problem was reported to the company by a customer. FSIS has received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a physician.

Media with questions about the recall should contact company President Mark Duffy at (800) 346-9494. Consumers with questions about the recall should contact company Director of Quality Systems Scott Freitag at (630) 299-0501.

2. Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is initiating a voluntary recall of 14 oz. Wegmans Wreath Kuchen with a 'Best if Used By' date up to and including 12/12. The product is being recalled because it contains pecans, which are not declared on the label. The problem was identified by a store bakery employee. The recall of this product is of concern only to those individuals who have allergies to pecans. Consumption may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to pecans.

The kuchen (coffeecake), in the shape of a wreath with red and green candied cherries and pecans on top, would have been available in Wegmans stores beginning Sunday, November 25, through Thursday, December 6. Approximately 4,400 units of the product are affected by the recall. Product with the affected code date is no longer on store shelves.

No illnesses have been reported to date. Concerned customers should return the product to Wegmans for a full refund. Customers who have consumed the product and feel they are experiencing symptoms should contact their physician.

The Best By date can be found printed on the top of the lid. The product is being recalled because customers reported finding small pieces of glass in the product.

Trader Joe's Pinjur was potentially sold from Trader Joe's retail stores in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to these ingredients (coconuts, peanuts, milk and/or sulfites) run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The products are packaged in 1 lb. 2 oz or 1 lb. 5 oz clear jars. The nutrition and ingredient information is contained inside hang tags attached to the top of the jars.

The lot codes are on stickers on the bottom of the jars.

The cookie mixes were distributed exclusively throughout the United States in Harry & David Stores, beginning on November 27, 2007.

There have been no injuries reported to date. Anyone concerned about a potential illness associated with this product should contact a physician immediately. This problem occurred when hang tags were applied to the wrong flavor of cookie mix.

Coffee Masters distributed this product on behalf of Chipper Gourmet Foods during the months of January - Sept 2007.

Chipper With Coffee Biscotti was distributed wholesale nationwide and could have been found in retail coffee shops. Coffee Masters, Inc. discontinued the distribution in early September, due to lack of sales and interest.

The potential problem was uncovered by state and federal authorities investigating 21 occurrences of E. coli-related illnesses in 10 states. Approximately half of the individuals who became ill were hospitalized as a result. The earliest case reported to state authorities occurred on July 20, and the latest case reported occurred on Oct. 10. Nine of the 21 people reported having eaten Totino's or Jeno's pizza with pepperoni topping at some point prior to becoming ill. Since July 1 of this year, Totino's and Jeno's have distributed more than 120 million pizzas nationwide.

Totino's and Jeno's, working in cooperation with federal and state food safety authorities, launched an investigation immediately upon learning of the potential problem.

In response, General Mills, the parent company of Totino's and Jeno's, initiated a voluntary Class I recall as a precaution. The investigation is ongoing, and the company continues to cooperate fully with all involved state and federal authorities.

E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. Seniors, the very young, and persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness.

Any consumers concerned about an illness should contact a physician. Anyone diagnosed by a physician as having an illness related to E. coli O157:H7 is also urged to contact state and local public health authorities.

Consumers can contact Totino's / Jeno's for product replacement by clipping the UPC (bar code) symbol from each pizza box and sending their UPC's, along with their name and address to:

Date: 10/31/2007; 13:33:05

Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 recall of Dutch Kettle Hickory Barbeque Sauce marketed under several private labels, because they may contain undeclared traces of anchovies, an allergen.

The Dutch Kettle, Bremen, IN 46506 is recalling 94 cases of 12/19 oz. glass (pint size) jars of HICKORY BBQ Sauce (barbecue sauce) packed under 35 private labels because it contains undeclared fish protein (anchovy) that was present in an ingredient used to make the sauce. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish protein (fin fish) run the risk of serious of life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The 94 cases of Hickory Barbecue sauce was distributed to 35 farm market type customers under each of their private labels in 13 states mostly in the eastern half of the United States. Most of the accounts were in Michigan, Indiana, New York and Illinois but there are also accounts in Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Utah. Product was shipped direct to the retailers from the manufacturer.

The product is packed in 19 oz. (pint) jars with metal lids and an attached body label. Each customer has an individual private label that begins with the store name (such as "Amish Country Store") followed by "Homestyle Hickory BBQ Sauce" can be identified initially by name Hickory BBQ Sauce and the name of the retailer (mainly farm markets) on the label.

Two lots of 50/12, 19 oz. jars were manufactured between 6/01/07 and 9/05/07. The first batch was coded "**70****W" and the second "SM70905W". The code is in a dot matrix format on the side (threaded portion) of the metal lid of the jar.

Subject: Recall of ConAgra Foods' Pot Pies Due to Salmonella Outbreak
Date: 10/12/2007; 10:54:25

Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service's Class 1 Recall of an undetermined amount of all varieties of frozen pot pie products in commerce that may be linked to an outbreak of salmonellosis.

ConAgra Foods, a Marshall, Mo., firm, is voluntarily recalling an undetermined amount of all varieties of frozen pot pie products in commerce that may be linked to an outbreak of salmonellosis.

The following brands and all varieties, including chicken, turkey and beef, of frozen pot pie products are subject to this recall:

. Banquet
. Albertson's
. Food Lion
. Great Value
. Hill Country Fare
. Kirkwood
. Kroger
. Meijer
. Western Family

These frozen pot pies include all varieties in 7 oz. single serving packages bearing an establishment number "P-9" or "Est. 1059" printed on the side of the package. Photos of these brands are attached above.

These frozen pot pie products were distributed to retail establishments throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands. Based on product shelf life, these products could still be in consumers' freezers and it is important that consumers look for and return or discard these products if they find them.

On October 9, FSIS issued a public health alert for these frozen pot pie products following an investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State public health departments into a large cluster of illnesses caused by Salmonella that identified these products. The establishment voluntarily ceased operations on October 9: however FSIS continues its investigation to determine the source of contamination. The CDC, State public health departments and FSIS also continue investigation into the multi-state illness outbreak.

Consumers with questions about the recall may contact the Toll-Free Hotline at (866) 484-8641. Media with questions may contact company Director of Communications Stephanie Childs at (402) 595-6258. For more information consumers and media can also visit: www.conagrafoods.com.

Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. Salmonella infections can be life-threatening, especially to those with weak immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy. The most common manifestations of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within eight to 72 hours. Additional symptoms may be chills, headache, nausea and vomiting that can last up to seven days.

* Although there have been no requests for assistance by USDA, local health departments should take action to remove the products from retail food establishments' shelves if encountered. If any requests for assistance are received from USDA-FSIS, the Food and Drug Safety Program will contact you. Subject: Recall of Vintage Chocolates Due to Undeclared Milk Traces in Soy Milk Chocolate Bars
Date: 10/11/2007; 10:25:51

Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 recall of Vintage Chocolate's Soy Milk Chocolate Bars because they may contain undeclared traces of milk, an allergen.

Vintage Chocolates Inc. of Elizabeth, New Jersey is recalling 4,455 bars of soy milk chocolate, because it may contains undeclared traces of milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this soy milk chocolate bar.

The Soy Milk chocolate bar was distributed in the following states: New York, New Jersey , Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Wisconsin., New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan, Ohio. This product was available through retail stores and chain stores and through the firm's web site: echocolates.com.

The bar is presented in a beige cardboard package of 3.5 oz, depicting tree with a green band on top stating "43% Soy milk or 38% Soy milk". On the back of the package one would find: the following information: UPC: 797148000398.

There is one incident involving a child who developed rashes that has been confirmed to date.

This incident triggered an analysis of the formulation, and product analysis to determine the origin of the problem. The firm thinks that the traces of milk came from a cross contamination issue during processing. It is currently designing a new process to specifically tackle this problem.

Consumers who have purchased The Vintage Plantation Soy milk bars are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at: 1-800-207-7058.

Subject: Food Recalls and Advisories
Date: 10/10/2007; 13:45:11

Please review the following messages from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the USDA's Class 1 Recall of Aliki Chicken Broccoli Fettuccine Alfredo Made with White Chicken, FDA's Class 1 Recall of Wegman's 18 oz 'Food You Feel Good About Country Wheat Rolls', and ConAgra's consumer advisory concerning Banquet Pot Pies.

1. Aliki Foods, Inc., an Old Lyme, Conn., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 70,400 pounds of a chicken and pasta product that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.

The following product is subject to recall:

. 5-pound boxes containing two 2.5-pound trays of "Aliki Chicken Broccoli Fettuccine Alfredo Made with White Chicken." Each box bears the establishment number "Est. 219" inside the Canadian Food Inspection Agency mark of inspection as well as a best if used by date of "SEPT 08" printed on the top of the box.

The chicken and pasta product was produced on Sept. 28, 2007 and was distributed to retail establishments in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.

The problem was discovered through routine FSIS microbiological sampling at the import establishment. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.

Media with questions about the recall should contact company President Michael Pappas at (860) 434-2674. Consumer with questions about the recall should contact company Customer Service Representatives at (877) 434-2674.

2. Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is initiating a voluntary recall of 18 oz Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Country Wheat Rolls with best-if-used-by date of October 10. This product is being recalled because the package may actually contain potato rolls, which contain a milk allergen not declared on the label. The bread was produced on Monday, October 1, and would have been available in Wegmans stores between Tuesday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 3. Product with the affected code date is no longer on store shelves.

No illnesses have been reported to date. The recall of this product is of concern only to those individuals who have allergies to milk. Consumption may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk. Concerned customers should return the product to Wegmans for a full refund. Customers who have consumed the product and feel they are experiencing symptoms should contact their physician.

18 oz Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Country Wheat Rolls are sold exclusively at Wegmans Food Markets located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland. Wegmans' customers who have questions or concerns about this recall should contact the consumer affairs department at 1-800-WEGMANS, ext. 4760.

3. ConAgra Foods announced that it was contacted by state health officials regarding Banquet Turkey and Chicken Pot Pies. In cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), ConAgra Foods is advising consumers to not eat these products while the USDA and ConAgra Foods look into these concerns. This advisory pertains to Banquet brand frozen chicken or turkey pot pie products or generic store brand not-ready-to-eat pot pie products bearing the number "P-9" printed on the side of the package. The company believes the issue is likely related to consumer undercooking of the product.

If they wish, consumers may return these products to ConAgra Foods for a refund by sending the side panel of the package that contains the code "P-9" to ConAgra Foods, Dept. BQPP, P.O. Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103-0768. If consumers prefer, they may return the product to the store from which it was purchased for a refund: consumers should discard the product prior to returning the entire package to their retail store.

The company reminds consumers that these products are not ready-to-eat, and must always be thoroughly cooked as instructed on the packages. The cooking instructions for these products are specifically designed to eliminate the presence of common pathogens found in many uncooked products. Microwave cooking times vary, depending on the wattage of the microwave, so carefully following all instructions is important.

ConAgra Foods is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to identify any additional steps that may be appropriate, including potential changes that may further clarify cooking instructions for consumers. Already, the company is revising its packaging to more clearly illustrate different cooking times for Banquet pot pies related to varying wattages of microwaves.

ConAgra Foods was advised yesterday by health officials in several states that a number of consumers had been diagnosed with salmonella that they believe is statistically associated with the consumption of Banquet chicken and turkey pot pies. Salmonella is among the common pathogens found in not-ready-to-eat poultry containing products like pot pies. Cooking instructions are designed to result in the elimination of any risk associated with salmonella.

Consumers with questions regarding the cooking of Banquet pot pies may call 1-866-484-8671 or contact us online at www.conagrafoods.com/contactus. For more information on food safety, consumers may reference IFIC.org.

No action is required of local health departments at this time for any of these recalls. For additional information regarding these recalls and advisories, please click on the weblink below.
