BIOSECURITY TASK FORCE
Objectives: To address industry preparedness and response to threats to food supply; develop strategies for industry biosecurity protocol; serve as liaison with government partners and exchange information on perceived threats to food industry. top
CONVENIENCE STORE COUNCIL
Objectives: To promote and further the role of the convenience store industry in the State; to examine issues; provide services; and address the special needs of convenience stores in the areas of legislation, regulation, security, and public relations. top
EBT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Objectives: To promote and oversee the growth, and successful management of Electronics Benefits Transfer (EBT) within the New Jersey merchant community. top
EDUCATION & TRAINING COMMITTEE
Objectives: To review and consider ways in which NJFC can best respond to demonstrated needs for programs that will provide training for employees from entry level to management and continue to explore government funded projects such as New Jersey’s School to Work Transition Program to determine potential benefits for NJFC members. top
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TASK FORCE
Objectives: To work with the New Jersey State Police and officials from the New Jersey Departments of Agriculture, Health and Transportation to develop a strategy for catastrophic emergency situations that might disrupt the food supply. top
ENERGY ISSUES COMMITTEE
Objectives: To address utility restructuring measures, explore utility reform options and provide best strategy position to advise the membership on shopping for power. The committee works with an NJFC energy aggregation consultant to negotiate energy supply contracts and recommends policies for the NJFC Energy Aggregation Group. top
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE
Objectives: To encourage NJFC member participation in various aspects of sound solid waste policy; and study and make recommendations on source reduction as it pertains to product and packaging development. A Sub-committee is the Composting Task Force. top

FOOD SAFETY & QUALITY COMMITTEE
Objectives: To work closely with the Department of Health on the revision of the food code regulations; to work with government partners on food safety issues and to implement the Food Handlers Training Grant Project. top
GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE
Objectives: To provide guidance on Board recruitment, expectations, selection, nomination, participation, evaluation, and termination, and take full responsibility for Board Membership
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Objectives: To identify NJFC legislative and regulatory agenda; recommend legislative positions; assist in research and testimony before legislative and regulatory agencies; and develop contacts with legislators and state officials. top
LOSS PREVENTION COMMITTEE
Objectives: To share information on loss prevention and security issues; recommend legislative positions on security issues; and promote Loss Prevention Conference and Exhibition. top
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Objectives: To evaluate and recommend programs to maintain and encourage retail and associate membership in the New Jersey Food Council. top
OBESITY WORKING COMMITTEE
Objectives: To address public policy discussion on obesity, determine a strategy to educate and inform lawmakers, promote common sense consumption and prevent frivolous and detrimental public policy. top
SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Objectives: To strategize and discuss state and federal legislation and regulation dealing with insurance, liability, OSHA, ergonomics, and worker’s compensation. top
TRADE RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Objectives: To promote communications and better understanding among the food industry trade; develop program and promotion of Annual Golf Outing and Trade Relations Conference; and assist in building membership through trade contacts. top
WORKFORCE COMMITTEE
Objectives: To create a forum for information sharing,
networking, exchanging ideas and providing
research on workforce and
human resource issues;
recommend legislation and regulatory positions
on employment practice proposals and address
food industry human resources challenges and
