FOOD COUNCIL COMMITTEE FOR GOOD GOVERNMENT HOSTS ANNUAL BREAKFAST
The Food Council Committee for Good Government (FCCfGG), the political action arm of the New Jersey Food Council, held the 34th Annual Good Government Breakfast this week at the Woodbridge Hilton in Iselin, New Jersey.

This year’s featured industry “Good Government” award was received by Mike Ambrosio of Wakefern for his dedication to the Food Council and his continued support of the NJFC agenda.

“Mike serves on multiple NJFC policy advisory committees, is Chair of our Bio-security Task force and represents the industry well on the State Department of Homeland Security’s Infrastructure Advisory Committee. His quality work and hours of dedication make him most deserving of this year’s award,” said NJFC President Linda Doherty.

In addition, State Senator Tom Kean and Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts received “Outstanding Legislator” awards for their accessibility to NJFC members and understanding of the issues important to the food industry. Gary Sondermeyer, Director of Operations for the Department of Environmental Protection, was also honored with the Thomas W. Kelly “Government Service” award.

This year, the committee made special recognition of former NJFC Board Members Walt Rubel of Acme Markets and Colleen Meares of Stop & Shop with the Patriot Award for their substantial contributions and efforts on behalf of the Food Council and the Political Action Committee over the years.

The event also featured a special Legislative Round Table consisting of Senate President Codey, Senate Minority Leader Lance, Assembly Speaker Roberts and Assembly Minority Whip Bramnick who answered questions regarding industry issues and the November Election.

NJFC would like to thank those companies who supported the event by purchasing tickets and tables to help keep the industry on firm financial footing as we head into the November General Election.
