The NJFC Event Sponsorship program for 2008 is growing fast! The association continues to accept commitments so be sure you are on this list. Sponsors are considered premium supporters of the Food Council.
The program will continue to include four levels of sponsorship that will entitle companies to a pre-determined number of tickets to NJFC events, including the Annual Meeting, Night of Distinction, Trade Relations Conference and the Golf Outing. In addition, event sponsors will receive recognition in NJFC publications such as the News & Views and the quarterly newsletter ExpressLine, on our web-site as well as acknowledgement in promotional materials and placement on banners at NJFC events.

AS LEGISLATIVE SESSION WINDS DOWN MORE ENVIRONMENTAL BILLS TARGETING FOOD INDUSTRY INTRODUCED Now that the Legislature is back from the Election Recess, lawmakers are back at work in Trenton. Legislators have been busy introducing bills for consideration during the waning days of this Lame Duck session that ends on January 7, 2008 and positioning proposals for the start of the new session that begins January 8, 2008. Several bills in particular have been introduced that target supermarket and food supplier operations.
A-4483 - "The Smart Container Act", a bottle bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Huttle;
A-4513 - Provides that a solid waste collector will not collect the contents of a solid waste container containing designated recyclable materials until recyclable material is removed sponsored by Assemblyman Rooney;
A-4552 - Provides for decrease and eventual ban on use of non-compostable plastic grocery bags sponsored by Assemblyman McKeon; and
A-4555 - "Plastic Bag Recycling Act" sponsored by Assemblyman Conaway.
NJFC and our members will be meeting with these bill sponsors individually in January to discuss our concerns and opposition to these proposals and provide an industry perspective on the bills.
